New Student - Michael Salmon

Everyone please make Michael Salmon feel welcome as he will be a new student in our class starting next Monday. Michael has moved to Nixa with his family from the Kansas City area and I am thrilled to have him in class! Please welcome him with open arms!

Marketing Mix Project Link

As we discussed in class today, this semester's project will be for your assigned groups to create your own company, including creation of product, advertising for that product to a target audience, and all the components for a successful marketing mix.

This project will take the next eight weeks and you'll be working during class time as well as outside of class.

DECA Club Membership


Just a reminder to all students that the deadline to sign up for the Nixa High School DECA Club is Wednesday, March 10. This is a great club dedicated to helping students develop skills for successful business careers, build self–esteem, experience leadership and practice community service. DECA members create friendships with like–minded people from all over the world at career and leadership conferences and build resumes that move them to the top of the job and college application list.

DECA luncheon volunteers

You may have seen the flyers in the hallways announcing the upcoming DECA Career Day luncheon next Friday, March 5 in the east auditorium. This will be an exciting 2-hour lunch where members of the DECA club will be invited to hear guests speakers from various business careers, including banking, finance, advertising and public relations. Please attend if you are able!

I am looking for three volunteers to help with serving the lunch and doing clean-up afterwards. If you are interested in helping, please leave a comment.

The Marketing Mix

Today in class we learned about the Marketing Mix. The marketing mix is the unique combination of pricing, promotion, product offerings and distribution system (place) to reach a specific group of consumers (the target market).

Remember that the Target Market (or target audience) are the customers who are most likely to buy the products.

Think about the examples we discussed in class of how different firms have different target markets. For example, a fast food establishment would have a different target than a health store.

Remember the purpose is that companies are trying companies to get the right goods to the right people at the right place at the right time at the right price using the right promotional strategies.

Homework:
I ran out of time to give you this assignment in class today. For tomorrow's class, I'd like you to think of different companies you us and identify who they are targeting (must be at least 3 companies and targets.)
